I was raised by a very forward thinking mother who was an esoteric spiritualist and formed a very strong foundation in positive/quantum thinking from an extremely young age. During my early teens I was raped by one of my teachers. This experience was not violent but incredibly insidious which affected me deeply. For years I went to traditional therapists, physiologists, and physiatrists. I took workshop after workshop trying desperately to heal my wounds and get out of my own way so that I could trust the world around me and experience a long term relationship in my life. I thought I was doing pretty well for several years, until one day 20 years after being raped I got a random call from this perpetrator.
After I had hung up the phone I literally collapsed on the floor and couldn’t get out of bed for weeks. It was during that time that I realized that traditional therapy which I had invested so many years and so much money in, didn’t work at all for me. After that experience I did some very deep soul searching, I started studying the work of dignitaries within the self-help and spiritual industry. Ram Dass, Jiddu Krishnamurti, Stewart Wilde, Marianne Wiliamson, Don Miguel Ruiz, Pema Chodron, Toni Robins, Debbie Ford, the list went on!
What I came to realize during that year was that no traumatic situation or event can be erased because it’s part of our life experience. We can’t sweep the dark events of our lives under a rug and hope that it’s going to go away or at very least be forgotten. You can be certain that it will raise its ugly head at some point or another just as it did for me. I realized that I had a running story about events in my life and that those stories and drama’s were running my life. I was so caught up in my angry victim and so busy pointing fingers at everyone else that I couldn’t see that I needed to take back my own life, my power and my heart. Most importantly, I needed to authentically forgive myself before any healing could possibly occur. I firmly set an intention to reclaim myself and take back my power. I went on from there to study Life Coaching and Hypnotherapy at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Being who I am I chose to take a very spiritual approach to my practice so that I could assist others in finding the divine within themselves and learn how to extract the answers they need for themselves. As my hypnotherapy and coaching practice grew I began to develop my own unique methods.
A few years later I embarked upon and began studying with Debbie Ford who is the NY Times Best Selling Author of “The Dark Side of the Light Chaser’s” including 8 other books she has written since. Debbie Ford’s work further transformed my life in such a profound manner that I became a certified coach through the Debbie For Institute and moved on to mentor new students and assist in her incredibly transformational Shadow Process seminars which are held all over the world. Today I am a professional transformational life coach, a certified hypnotherapist and a certified Integrative Coach through the Debbie Ford Institute. My personal coaching and Integrative Coaching through the Ford Institute are completely separate, unique methods of coaching. I will only work with my clients in one technique or the other.
